Other Income

Other income is money the business earns that is not a sale at the register: rent from a tenant, an ATM or lottery commission, a vendor rebate, interest. Each entry goes to an income account of your chart of accounts.

What you see depends on your role. If the menu, a button or a setting on this page is missing, ask your administrator to give you the permission listed above or to turn on the feature. Only administrators can turn features on and change site settings.

Record other income

  1. Open Sales > Other income and select New income.
  2. Choose the Income account, such as Rent Income. The list shows your income and other income accounts; add new ones under Books > Chart of accounts.
  3. Enter the Amount. A negative amount reduces the income, for example a commission charged back.
  4. Enter the Received date, the Month it belongs to (it starts as the month received), and how it was Received as.
  5. Optionally choose the customer it came from and add a Comment.
  6. Select Save and post.

The list shows the income of a date range (the current month by default) with its total; choose other Dates and select Show. Select Edit to change an entry or Delete to remove it; its entry is reversed.

What is posted

The amount is debited to the payment method's account (Undeposited Funds by default) and credited to the income account. A negative amount does the opposite.
