Finding Your Way Around
Everything you do in Al-Mohaseb happens in the browser, on the admin pages of your business's site. This page shows you how to sign in, what each top-level menu holds, and where to find the screens you need. Read it first if you are new.
- Open the address your administrator or accounting firm gave you, for example
https://contoso.almohaseb.us/Admin. - Enter your user name or email and your password, and sign in.
- You land on the admin dashboard. The menu is on the left.
Your administrator creates your user and gives you your roles. If you cannot sign in, or you forgot your password, ask your administrator.
One site per business
Each business has its own Al-Mohaseb site, with its own address, its own users and its own books. If you work for more than one business, for example as the bookkeeper of an accounting firm, you sign in to each business's site separately. Nothing you do in one business's site changes another's.
The admin menu
The menu shows only what your roles allow and what your business has turned on. Two people at the same business can see very different menus. See Roles and permissions for why.
These are the top-level items you are most likely to see:
| Menu | What lives there | Mostly used by |
|---|---|---|
| Books | The books of the business, starting with the Chart of accounts. | Bookkeepers, accountants |
| Settings | Settings for the whole business, such as the Business profile. | Administrators, owners |
| Tools | Jobs, the list of long-running work in the background, plus the administrator's utilities such as Features. | Administrators |
| Access Control | Users and Roles. | Administrators |
Your site may show other items too, such as Design or Configuration. They come from the platform Al-Mohaseb is built on and are for administrators.

Lists, search and filters
Most screens in Al-Mohaseb start with a list: accounts, jobs, and soon sales, bills and checks. Every list works the same way. You can type a few words in the search box, or a filter such as status:completed, and switch between a list and a grid. See Search and filter lists.
Dates and the business day
Al-Mohaseb shows dates and times in the time zone of your business, not of your computer. Your administrator sets that time zone under Settings > General. A business that stays open after midnight can also start its business day later than midnight, so late-night sales belong to the day they started. That is the Business day starts at field of the business profile.
